Lamine Maiga's goal for the Algerian side DAMAC was enough to break the club's all-time record for most goals scored in a single match, but it was not just his goal that made headlines.

The former Manchester City winger, who has been on loan from Leicester City, showed his class by scoring two goals in a dramatic 4-1 win against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals on Thursday night.

Maiga's first goal came in the 27th minute, as he slotted home a low shot from outside the box to put DAMAC ahead.

And then in the 66th minute, he scored again,Football New Route this time from close range after a brilliant through ball from teammate Ahmed Abd El Hadi.

It was a stunning display of skill and technique from the 28-year-old, who had previously only managed one goal in 12 appearances for DAMAC before his move to Leicester last summer.

But his performance did not go unnoticed by the likes of Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, who praised him for his "brilliant" displays for both teams.

Rodgers said: "I'm really pleased for Lamine, he is a player I have watched for many years and he brings a lot to the table."

"I think he is going to be a top player for Leicester, he is a fantastic talent."
